Pausing & cancelling

Stopping, pausing, and refunds

No lock-in and no contract to escape. Here is exactly how to stop, and where we stand on refunds.

Last updated: 11 August 2026

1. There is nothing to escape

This is a month-to-month arrangement. There is no minimum term, no lock-in contract, and no penalty for leaving. You do not need a reason and we will not ask you for one — though if something went wrong, we would genuinely like to know.

2. How to cancel or pause

Message us on WhatsApp at 069 009 6569, or email william@thekidsarecoding.com. That counts as written notice — there is no form to fill in.

We ask for two weeks’ notice. No further fees are charged beyond the lessons already delivered inside that notice period.

We may also end an enrolment with the same two weeks’ notice — for example if the programme is no longer a fit for a learner. We would always talk to you first.

Pausing instead

If life gets in the way — exams, a move, a tight month — you can pause rather than cancel. While paused you are not billed and no new lessons are sent. Everything your child has already done is kept, and they pick up exactly where they left off. Most families who ask about cancelling actually want this.

3. Refunds

Lessons are digital content delivered at the start of each month. Once a month’s lessons have gone out, that month has been delivered.

So: we do not refund a month whose lessons have already been sent — including where a learner did not get around to opening them. What you are paying for is the lesson and the coach’s time set aside to review the work, and both of those happen whether or not the work comes back.

Where we do refund

Your rights either way

Nothing on this page takes away any right you have under the South African Consumer Protection Act. Where that Act gives you something this page does not, the Act wins. We would not want it any other way.

4. What happens to your child’s things

5. Missed payments

If a payment has not arrived by the 7th and we have not heard from you, we may pause the enrolment and stop sending new lessons until it is sorted. We will always try WhatsApp first — nobody is cut off by a silent system.

Weeks your child has already done stay open. A child is never locked out of their own past work over a late payment. That is deliberate, and it is enforced in the software rather than left to goodwill.

6. Coming back

Message us. If the account still exists, your child restarts from exactly where they stopped. If it was deleted, we set up a new one and place them at the right level rather than starting them over.

7. Fee changes

If we change our fees we will give you at least one calendar month’s notice in writing, and the new fee applies only from the following month. If you do not want to continue at the new price, you may cancel under section 2 with no penalty.
